Hi guys! My name is Kalina Pullen and I’m a senior on the UConn Storrs campus. After adjusting my schedule for the first/next term, I started this class late. I’m a marketing major with a focus on digital marketing analytics. I chose the Marketing major because I was intrigued by the idea of combining creativity with strategic business practice. Whether it’s through photography, painting or fashion, I’ve always been creative. There are aspects of marketing that allow me to capitalize on those interests, which I really like.
My start to college was a bit unconventional, especially compared to many of my friends at Storrs. I spent my first year in college and the first semester of my sophomore year, living at home and commuting to West Hartford. In the spring of my sophomore year, I studied abroad in Perugia, Italy, a small medieval city perched on a hilltop overlooking vineyard valleys and green landscapes. The city is full of authentic Italian food and local wines. Even 20 minutes outside the city center, there is a world-famous chocolate factory. Needless to say, I am in heaven. Every minute I spent in Perugia was like a movie because everything seemed so real. If you have the chance, I highly recommend visiting Italy (especially Perugia)!
How to Create a Killer Pr Strategy for Any Business?
Unfortunately, when I got back into real life, I moved sell phone number list to the Storrs campus where I learned a lot about marketing and made some great friends along the way.
Regarding my work experience, last summer I interned in Traveller’s corporate market research department. The experience I gained from there was invaluable and enabled real-world application of the knowledge I gained from the classroom. However, I did decide that I didn’t want to pursue a research career. Sometimes you don’t know what you don’t like without trying it, right? To my relief, I recently got a full-time position at Gartner in Stamford, CT for a graduate in Marketing.
Digital Marketing Powered by Hubspot
This is a rotating position and I will be working with six EA Leads different teams (including digital marketing, data and analytics, and social media) over a two-year period. After going through this experience, I intend to finally understand what I do and don’t like in marketing!
Outside of school and work, I enjoy traveling, playing with my dog and cat, snowboarding, hiking, and finding cool songs for my Spotify playlists. I’ve never done anything that might be considered an entrepreneur, but I’ve always been interested in entrepreneurship, and I consider myself a creative and innovative thinker, so I’m looking forward to this aspect of the course! I don’t know what to learn from this course, but I’m excited about the innovative pace of the rest of my business courses.
